Pathfinder is providing energy services for a new Zero Net Energy residence to be constructed in Stephentown, NY. Pathfinder's energy modeling will inform early design decisions by evaluating impacts and optimizing energy consumption associated with design considerations, including:
- Site conditions, floor plan options, massing and orientation
- Building envelope options including insulation and glazing
- Passive solar energy strategies
- Heating and cooling systems
- Ventilation and human comfort
The home will be sited and designed with accommodation for a solar PV system to generate as much energy as is used annually in the home.

The official Energy Star certification from Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been received and the window decals are on the front and west entrance door windows at Henrietta United Church of Christ (HUCC). The church building, which underwent extensive renovations, received a perfect score of 100/100 for the EPA's Energy Start program.
Pathfinder provided design and project management for this $1 million major facility renovation, which increased the size of the building by 33% to a total of 15,000 sq. ft. Pathfinder has received a Platinum Level Engineering Excellence Award for its energy modeling and NYSERDA Technical Assistance provided to the Binghamton City School District's MacArthur Elementary School. Our boiler design for SUNY Binghamton's East Campus Housing is achieving 90-95% efficiency.
Pathfinder provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and architectural design for decentralization from the campus boiler plant for the complex (Newing and Dickinson communities), which includes eight dormitory buildings and the Chenango Champlain Collegiate Center. The dormitories total 740,000 sq. ft. and the Collegiate Center is 200,000. ft. The project includes installation of new modular, gas-fired, hot water boiler plants with the capacity to serve the two existing central distribution heating systems for the two communities.
